How this character plays a part in what happens to the couple
If Juliet followed her parents' orders and married Paris, her and Romeo could have made plan for her to be with Romeo without so much uncertainty. Juliet's strong personality and irrational thinking also contributed to the deaths. If Juliet took more time to think of other options besides than killing herself if this plan didn't work she could have found a way to be with him against her parents' wishes.

Why Shakespeare wrote Juliet into the play
Shakespeare chose to make Juliet transform from a Innocent, obedient girl to a strong-headed, confident woman. If Juliet had instead listened to what her parents wanted for her, the play would be lacking the main concepts grasped because of Juliet disobeying her parents.Throughout the play we see an in depth look into Juliet's life, where the majority of the plot takes place. If Shakespeare had decided to show the lives of different characters rather than Juliet, important details would be missing from the plot.

Juliet's relation to time period
Juliet is definitely not an accurate representation of the time period. Shakespeare purposely described Juliet as a disobedient, rebellious child. In the time period, girls were expected to marry whoever their father picked with no discussion or opinion needed, while Juliet argued with her father and showed a side that neither of her parents had seen before.
